A Message From Our VP Chapter Enrichment & Belonging

“I am excited to connect with my peers in Alpha Chi and the Greek Life community through this position with empathy and intention, and for our conversations to engender meaningful change. Our renewed dedication to enrichment and belonging highlights the importance of our lived experiences, adding a layer of education and action to our standing values of equity.”

Our Work

UCLA Alpha Chi Omega is dedicated to pushing ourselves to be the most inclusive chapter we can be. The Vice President of Chapter Enrichment and Belonging (VP CEB) works alongside the Assistant VP CEB and CEB Committee to provide educational resources to the chapter and our community about creating inviting and inclusive spaces. We accomplish this through workshops and trainings, social media, and starting difficult conversations within our chapter and the greater UCLA community about what inclusivity and belonging look like to us.

Our VP CEB serves on the Chapter Standards and Relations Board as well as on the Recruitment Committee. This helps provide a designated advocate for our inclusivity efforts in both of these spaces so that we can remain committed to creating an equitable environment for all members and lead with empathy.

The CEB committee, consisting of all Assistant VPs and additional chapter members, is always working to gather information from members to improve our efforts and guide chapter  workshops. Additionally, the committee ensures that recruiters attend implicit bias training throughout the year and are equipped with the knowledge necessary to make both formal and informal recruitment safe for all potential new members. All chapter members are encouraged to attend committee meetings and involve themselves in CEB efforts

The workshops we hold throughout the school year are one important way we start conversations within our chapter, and turn those conversations into action. Some of the topics we have highlighted in the last year are inclusivity and accessibility during recruitment, implicit bias, and the legacy of exclusion in Greek life. We also try to work with other organizations on campus to make our programming more valuable to our members. Some of the amazing UCLA organizations we have worked with are Sexperts and End Overdose. Our VP CEB also sits on the Panhellenic EDI Committee, supporting inclusivity in the broader Panhellenic community.

Lastly, we hold workshops run by Sojourn, a domestic violence shelter that provides resources to women and children affected by domestic violence. Sojourn is not only an integral part of our philanthropic efforts but also provides our members with training and information on how to cultivate healthy relationships and protect those in our community. Alpha Chi Omega is dedicated to recognizing the complex ways that identity and background affect the issue of domestic violence, and working to connect our work within the chapter to our philanthropic efforts.
